The Normandy Way

A 300km cycle loop along the D-Day beaches and Normandy countryside. Experience the best cycling weekend through picturesque villages and historic WWII landmarks. The duration of this adventure is 5 days in total with 3 days in the saddle.

​The Normandy Way takes you through pivotal locations from the D-Day Landings, offering a deep dive into World War II history. Cycle past historical sites and museums that provide perspectives on both sides of the conflict. Witness remnants of the Atlantic Wall, a formidable Nazi fortification system showcasing remarkable engineering.

Where does the Normandy Way Start and End?

The Normandy Way begins and ends in the picturesque harbour town of Ouistreham, conveniently located at the Brittany Ferry terminal for arrivals from the UK. It’s also accessible by train from Paris to Caen. Ouistreham offers a vibrant beachside atmosphere with charming hotels, restaurants, and cafes.

How difficult is the Normandy Way?

​

The Normandy Way is a moderate cycling challenge. It mainly follows bike paths and minor roads, with a few sections which are on gravel trails. Each day involves approx. 100km of cycling. You will be on the bike for approximately 6 hours per day, plus time to explore the sites along the route.

​

The mixed terrain along the route is most suitable for gravel and adventure bike set ups, but both mountain bikes and road bikes could be used (with suitable tyres). E-bikes are also an option. We will discuss bike suitability with you.

The trail offers a range of accommodation all known for their comfort and quality. We can provide options to suit a range of budget options.

Day 1:  Meet the team & prep/briefing in Ouistreham

Day 2:  Bike day 1, Ouistreham to Carentan. Distance cycled 105km

Day 3:  Bike day 2, Carentan to Bayeux. Distance cycled 130km

Day 4:  Bike day 3, Bayeux to Ouistreham. Distance cycled 70km

Day 5:  Transfer to departure
